On the announcement that NHS workers will recieve a pay rise, Calum Macleod, Chair of the Police Federation for England and Wales, said:
“It is right that NHS workers are given adequate pay for what they do but it should not be one rule for one and one rule for another.
“There is more to the pay rise than meets the eye - the devil is in the detail and it should never be at the expense of losing any holiday entitlement.
“When it comes to police salaries the government’s own inspectors are about to support the fact that officers are at breaking point and the service needs investment.
“It is only right that officers who put their lives on the line every day are given a fair pay deal when their pay has effectively been cut for several years.
“We will continue to push for a pay rise for our members that they so deserve.”
